4) Writing About Redeployment [Categories: Life Choice, Course Reading, Re-Genre]: Please complete the following:
Blog Post Introduction:
Redeployment by Phil Klay tells the story of Sgt. Price being deployed in the marines and his experience adjusting back to normal life when he gets back. The story talks about him coming home and seeing his wife and old dog for the first time. He is left with making the decision on whether or not to put his dog down on his own because he constantly had to kill dogs during his time of deployment. Re-Genre Analysis: I got back in my truck and I decided to take the long way home, it didn't feel right going home knowing that Vicar wasn't going to be there to greet me. I also dreaded seeing Cheryl, I knew that would only make me more upset. I pulled into the driveway and sat for what seemed like hours but was probably only a few minutes. I got into bed but I couldn't sleep knowing what I just did. Memories flooded into my head of all the good times that I had with Vicar. I regretted it so much. That was my best friend and we did everything together but now he is gone. Vicar was so excited to be at the trail and he had so much trust in me that he believed we were just going for a walk. I let him down. I feel guilty, did I just do it for myself or was he in so much pain that it was a good thing I did it instead of going to the vet. Would it have been better if a stranger had done it to him? For weeks later I constantly thought about it. I became depressed and Cheryl became extremely worried about me. I needed something to occupy my time. Cheryl suggested getting another dog and she believed it would help me. At first I was unsure and thought it would be a lot to take on after what just happened. But we took it slow first by going to pet stores and looking at dogs then going to shelters and playing with dogs for a couple hours. I started to feel more comfortable with the idea of getting a new dog. When we finally decided on a dog I spent all my time playing and training the new puppy. He became my new best friend. The puppy was almost like a therapy dog for me. It was good to see a dog it a positive way, not like the dogs I saw when I was deployed or what Vicar was like his last few weeks. I was happy with my choice of getting a new dog, it helped me learn that hard times will happen but there is always a way through.

I like the way, you did ending of this short fan fiction story, where ending is so optimistic. Buying a new dog is a good decision they made. Even though, a loss of Vicar cannot be fulfilled. But the way they show interest in selecting a new dog by going to several pet stores and shelters and playing with them, seems like a new dog will absolutely serve as a therapy dog. However, Price is suffering from mental breakdown but Cheryl did every possible effort to get him recovered back.

Thanks for sharing this post. This fan fiction narrative provides a clear argument that Sergeant Price regrets his decision. I appreciate how you provide reflection in the story to illustrate the connection shared between Price and his dog.

This fan fiction is a great ending to the store. You show the relationship between the dog and Sergeant Price and show how much he really cares. He was able to push through and open his mind up to a new dog. Great work.

I really liked how you added a reminiscing for Price as he was driving home and the fact that they thought about getting a new dog to help get over the last one.

I liked the ending of this story and how you gradually got him up to the idea of having a new dog and how he was kind of a therapy dog to him. I like the last sentence where you said "it helped me learn that hard times will happen but there is always a way through."

I love how you incorporated the therapy dog as something to be hopeful for. The fan fiction put a clear vision in my head while I was reading this. Great job.
